Diaper Tub

I received an invitation to my niece Nicole's baby shower a few weeks back. This got me very excited, not only am I excited for her and her family because a new baby is definitely worth getting excited about. But also for me, because now I get to create another special gift. :) The invitation said bring a bag of diapers and you will be entered in to a special drawing. Well that is all Jeanne and I had to read and we decided we were doing diaper gifts.

The first thing Jeanne & I did was went to Target.com and looked at Nicole's registry. From there we decided what we were each going to make her. Of course we love to shop together, so off we went to target! We shared a large box of diapers and a few other things like bath towels and hair ties.

My gift set consisted of

35 diapers + 21 extras

1-baby bath tub

1-baby bath gel

1-baby powder

1-baby lotion

2-teething rings

2-baby wash cloths

1-Sm rubber ducky that takes the waters temperature

1-lg rubber ducky that covers the tub's water spout

a little poly foam &

 2" wired ribbon

This gift was very simple to put together, I just placed diapers over the edge of the tub and snugged them up nice and tight.

Pulled my ribbon around and tied a tight knot with a pretty bow to hold all the diapers in place.

Now on to the water spout for this tub. I first had to roll some diapers and stuff in the tub to hold the spout in place.

Then I wraped 4 diapers around a flower stem to create the spout.

I put pony tail ties around the rolled up diapers to hold them on.

Then stuck the tub's spout in between the other rolled up diapers.

Bent it over to look like a water spout, added the teething rings to represent faucets and then laid a couple of wash cloths over the edge of the tub. I placed 21 extra diapers in the bottom of the tub to fill it up.

Oh Wait!!! we can't forget the bubbles :) made these with the poly foam.

All that was left to do was float a few necessities in the tub, and present it to the new mom to be. Hope you enjoyed watching me have fun with a few diapers. LOL Rosemary

Diaper Baby

I truly do have fun with baby shower gifts. I need more friends and or cousins to have babies so I can make more. :) My Mom and I went to a baby shower for my cousin Nichole last weekend and we both took her a diaper gift. We had so much fun making the Diaper Tricycle with Christi for our friend Amy, as soon as we got Nichole's invite we knew we were making some sort of a diaper cake for her.

I am only going to share the Diaper Baby I made, and let my Mom share her Diaper Tub.

This is what I started with:

1- sleeper type outfit 

1- hat

1- bib

1- pacifier

1- pair of socks

8- hair ties

2- bath towels

28- size 2 diapers

1- piece of cardboard for the base (not pictured)

I started with the legs, I realized I had nothing for feet so I filled them with a little stuffing.

Then I went on to roll diapers for the legs and feet.
2 diapers per leg and 2 per arm.
I used hair ties to secure the diapers.

Now onto the body

At this point I added what I thought would be a "Good" amount of diapers and ended up removing some later on.

Arms
As you can see I added a little more stuffing to the socks so it looks like hands.

Tucked a diaper in the sock as piece 1 of the arm and slide the other diaper in the sleeve behind it.

Now on to the head, I started with the hat and rolled diapers to the size of the hat.

Since our diapers had a print to them I had to come up with a white face so we turned a diaper inside out and wrapped it around the diaper roll to give it a clean look.

Now I did end up ruining this one diaper but that is because I had to cut a hole in it for the pacifier.

I used a cake support (12 inches long) to slide the head on the body, I know not everyone owns a cake support so another idea would be a paper towel roll. :)

See my baby is a little fat! I removed her head and pulled out a few diapers (the final diaper count is 28)

The last thing to do was give her a mouth for the pacifier and I did that just by cutting a slit in the diaper.

Now to lay her down to sleep! :)
I just tossed the 2 towels on the cardboard and placed her on them.

Everybody loved her and she was so cute! :)

Fall Decorations

Jeanne was at my house today helping me get ready for a few dinner guest tomorrow night, and said Mom why don't you take some pictures of your fall deco and post it on our blog.
I always seem to think I have to create something to be worthy of posting on the blog. But I guess she is right creating center pieces is also being creative.

So here are a few pics.

This is what I decided to do for a center piece for the bar. I will light these tomorrow night and place all the food on this bar.

This cute little bear pot Jeanne gave me as a gift sits at the front door.

I just stuck in some silk flowers.

This was very simple but turned out cute.

I love this one.

Oh, maybe it's this one I really love.

I bought all this plus more at a garage sale this past summer for only $10.00

Smells like Fall

In my post Fall Wreath I talked about my issue with spending a lot of money on fall decorations and wreaths. So here I am going to share with you a few things I did this year to decorate for fall. AND the best part I spent under $22.00 and that INCLUDES the wreath! :)

So, how did I do it you ask? Well I started with some great ideas on Pinterest. Check out my pinterest account HERE it will give you a sneak peak inside my head! :)

Back to decorating, actually lets just start with some photos!

Front door, I am not leaving these jars out all the time but when I am expecting company they will be out and lite. :)

Canning jar, raffia around the rim, white sand and a harvest candle. Leads to stunning!! :) 
You might recognize these from Decorations at a Biker Party post, all I did was switch out the candle.

I made a trip to the dollar store for 2 bags of mini gourds and to Walmart for some plastic gourds, a box of small pine cones, a bag of coffee beans, a bag of popcorn, a bag of green split peas, and a bag of red beans. There is my costs, now I did have to go to the basement and pull out a bunch of glass ware (that I have mainly purchased at garage sales this summer) and candles. And on to the picture tour. :)

Sneak peak on next weeks  blog about game night! Loved the table centerpiece.

The next one is coffee beans and a vanilla candle YUMMY smelling!!

Do you notice chestnuts? I did not mention those before because I did not buy them, we picked them from the yard. Yes, the squirrels in my neighborhood are going to starve now this winter BUT they look so so cool! :)

I did the ivory gourds because I saw them on pinterest and thought they looked so COOL!! I thought they helped balance the ivory candles through out the rest of the room. In each cylinder there is one bag of gourds from the dollar store spray painted ivory, some pine cones and chestnuts. And I think they are one of my favorites in the room right now. Way cute!

I love love love the chestnuts, I even left some in their shells.

So that is my fall decor, my living room smells amazing but I am craving coffee all the time now! lol
